From the outset, "Walks in Art" was conceived as a concert cycle, linking various forms of art and familiarising the public with important artistic, historical and cultural locations, This multi-genre approach, where fine locations inspire the musical offering and not the reverse, has rendered "Walks in Art" different from normal concert programmes. Together with a project in exclusive locations is the potential to introduce a pre-prepared programme in a non-traditional environment; the result is attractive both for the public and the performers, whether Czech or foreign.

The second thread running through festival dramaturgy is the presentation of the viola as a major musical instrument, albeit occasionally an unjustifiably neglected one, and featuring it in various styles, now and then markedly untypical and even extending to the experimental.
